Up to 500 new homes planned

The Woolwich Leisure Centre Scheme

The council is investing in a brand-new state-of-the-art leisure centre fronting General Gordon Square in the heart of Woolwich town centre. This will offer a wide range of facilities including an eight-lane 25 metre swimming pool, waterslide and flumes, spa, gym and much more. Along with the leisure centre, there will be new homes, shops, places to eat, public spaces and the refurbishment of the Tramshed theatre and arts centre

Following a competitive tender process, the council named Hill as its development partner for the residential element of the scheme.

Up to 500 new homes

Up to 500 new homes for market sale, shared ownership and for local people on the council’s waiting list, are set to be built subject to planning permission, by the Council’s development partner Hill Group, who were appointed following a competitive tender process.

The homes will be built between Vincent Road and Wilmount Street, next to the new leisure centre. Hill has extensive experience in building mixed housing developments for councils, working in close collaboration to provide high quality homes and create places that bring greater social value for the community whilst incorporating the highest standards of sustainability.

Hill Group has prepared a site wide masterplan and will build the residential part of the scheme. The Council is delivering the leisure centre and community uses.

You can find more details on the proposals on our exhibition boards here.
